Various methods of automatically checking the spelling of your text or of a specific web site/web page. Spell checker sites like TextTrust and NetMachanic are able to check web pages for free.

Free Spell Checker Online

Online spell checkers can be extremely helpful to keep your page/site error free (in terms of spelling anyway), but they can also be quite unreliable. They can point out words that aren't actually spelt incorrectly, sometimes miss some words amongst other little errors.

Despite these sometimes negative problems with online spell checkers you don't really have anything to lose by doing it.

Below are some of the free spell check online sites that we have linked to on the right of the page; this is to give you more detailed information on what each site can and can't do.

SpellCheck.net

SpellCheck.net is a free spell check online and allows you to enter just a single word to check, or you can copy and paste up to 20,000 characters of text. SpellCheck.net doesn't have an option to check a web page URL.

Orangoo is a free spell check online site that allows you to spell check text in 27 different languages. The code is free so you can even put the spell check on your website somewhere. "It partially uses the Google spell checker and Aspell. Probably the best spell checkers around!"

Orangoo also have a TextTrust Trial web site spell checker where you just enter the URL of the site you want to check and then I believe it spell checks a limited (but reasonable) amount of pages.

NetMechanic allows you to search individual web page URLs and e-mails you the complete report. The report is stored on their site for 2 days and then it is deleted, so make sure you check your e-mails regularly and that you either do the corrections there and then, or save the report page(s) so you can do them at a later date.

Their free spell check online page says it can test "this page only" or "20 pages", but the 20 page option is incorrect. It will only check 5 pages unless you subscribe to their site.

NetMechanic doesn't have an option to spell check typed/pasted text; only web page URLs.
