Related Terms. Ask Jeeves boxes
How to Insert Related terms --------------------------- Go online and from a Display page do Utility + 'Insert Related Terms'. Then do Utility + Replace Template to insert them into the ask jeeves boxes. If you don't like any of the terms you can do Edit + Related first. Assuming you are online Plexel will then search wordtracker for the page title popular related terms and extract the top 6 or so and store them in the Display page (column 3) The related terms are stored in column3 of the Display like in this section:- <!--rt--> <!-- Better Web Site Roi<BR>317 Roi Calculator<BR>59 Definition Of Roi<BR>58 Roi For Yellow Page Advertising<BR>47 Improve Trucking Roi<BR>46 Pochette Retour Du Roi<BR>43 ** Total Terms = 15 ** --> <!--rb--> The numbers to the right are wordtracker Counts and roughly equal to the number of searches per day for the phrase over all the search engines, i.e. a measure of phrase popularity. Normally the first ask jeeves box will contain the page title. If you do Edit + Protection against + Title On, then the first ask jeeves box will not contain the title. When you do Replace Template if there are less than 3 related terms in the <!--rt--> section then Plexel will fill the remaining boxes from the top terms you input when the website was created using New + Website. these are stored in the template Do Load + Template + Edit and scroll down to a line like this to see the top terms:- <!--inc temMban.htm, | $box1:Website Design, | $box2:HTML Editor, | $box3:Free HTML Editor, | $box4:Free Web Design/inc--> This line could be edited directly, then replace template would behave accordingly. There are three things in Edit + Protection against: to do with related terms:- Related Terms: Title On Off On: stops the title going in ask jeeves box 1 Col3 & Title On Off On: stops related terms and title going in ask jeeves boxes Insert Col3 On Off On: prevents Utility + 'Insert Related Terms' changing col3 SEE BOX AT BOTTOM OF PAGE

RELATED TERMS Ask Jeeves boxes. ------------------------------ In the 4 ask jeeves boxes at present on the Kittens page are the default related terms put in when the page was made. These default related terms are take from the page template but this is not important at this stage. The top left ask jeeves box contains the page title automatically so you can forget about that. The other three boxes should finally be filled with the top wordtracker terms to do with the page title and put at the top of col3 as follows:- <!--rt--> <!-- kitten care<BR>1092 kitten pictures<BR>1031 kitten natividad<BR>885 kitten names<BR>522 --> <!--rb--> These are the top 4 terms from the right hand table when you do wordtracker keyword universe for 'kittens' then click the link 'kittens' in the 'related keywords' left hand table that forms below the Step 2 box. The numbers are the scores. It is not essential to put these in. If you find only less than 3 terms then Plexel will fill the remaining boxes from the template defaults. After putting in the related terms to top of col3 as shown above you then need to do Utility + Replace Template + OK to fix the terms in the boxes. Like for 'spread summary' you can wait till the end of the day and do this in one go with Utility + Replace Template + Throughout folder' + OK. This ensures you don't forget any and gives you a LOG report too. I am currently updating Plexel to handle related terms automatically but for now it is a manual process. It is quite important since we get most revenue from the ask jeeves boxes and if we haven't got the best terms pre-loaded then less people will surely click the boxes. ---another email on this--------- > In regard to the Ask Jeeves boxes, how do you go about doing a wordtracker keyword universe search to find related keywords? Probably the easiest way is to bookmark and use this link:- http://wordtracker.com/database/frames/popularitysearchframes.php3?frames=on&userkeyword=hhhh login and just type the page title in the box 'use your own'. The related terms are the top 4 but not including the page title itself or the plural or singular of it. For example the Kittens page gives us:- kittens 3860 3642 kitten care 1016 959 atomic kitten 1011 954 kitten pictures 937 884 kitten natividad 854 806 kitten 733 692 kitten names 489 461 names for kittens 362 342 but we ignore 'kittens' since we already covered it by the page title, also we ignore 'atomic kitten' and 'kitten' to since it is the singular of the page title. So the top 4 are:- kitten care 1016 959 kitten pictures 937 884 kitten natividad 854 806 kitten names 489 461 ignore the scores to the right so we get:- kitten care 1016 kitten pictures 937 kitten natividad 854 kitten names 489 put these into the required format:- <!--rt--> <!-- kitten care<BR>1016 kitten pictures<BR>937 kitten natividad<BR>854 kitten names<BR>489 --> <!--rb--> and Edit+col3 and paste that lot in at the top. Then do Utility+Replace Template+OK I know it's a bit involved and I will automate it soon so you just do Utility+Insert related+OK followed by Utility+Replace Template+OK ---------another----------- I have not gone through with you about the Related terms thing. There is some info on this here:- file:///C:/Websites/Related_Terms.htm Every page should have the related terms put in. The 'Insert Related terms' feature of the Utility menu doesn't work since I'm updating it. You have to do it manually for the moment. Please read the ref above and then put them in and then 'Utility + Replace Template' for all the pages you have done. This locks them into the Ask Jeeves boxes. For each page title use wordtracker to find the top 4 phrases for that title. Use this link:- http://wordtracker.com/database/frames/popularitysearchframes.php3?frames=on&userkeyword=hhhh and type in the page title to the box. Find the top 4 terms but not including the title. A little common sense is required but basically we want to put the best terms in the ask jeeves boxes that people might want to click on. (no changes) > Everything is working. The online page 'Foosball' has the related terms 'foosball tables', 'foosball parts', 'tornado foosball' in the ask jeeves boxes. Try removing the related terms completely and doing 'Replace template' again. You will see different things in the ask jeeves boxes. Then try putting back the related terms in col3 then do 'Replace template' again. It should put your changes into the ask jeeves boxes. The top left ask jeeves box is reserved for the page title. The other three boxes are filled up from your related terms in col3. If there are no related terms in col3 then Plexel uses default terms set up when I first made the skeleton. Do you see how it works? If there are no related terms or you can't find any or fewer than 3 then Plexel fills up the boxes with the default terms. The default terms are stored in a file called templte.htm (The Template) but you don't really need to know about this, anyway, they are in this line:- <!--inc temMban.htm, | $box1:Table Football, | $box2:Foosball, | $box3:Foosball Tables, | $box4:Foosball Parts/inc--> Some of your related terms match the default terms e.g. Foosball Tables & Foosball Parts so that might have added some confusion here. Nevertheless with no related terms specified then after 'Replace Template' you should have:- Foosball, Table Football, Foosball Tables & Foosball Parts in the boxes. With your related terms IN you should get after 'Replace Template':- Foosball, Foosball Tables, Foosball Parts & Tornado Foosball They are different but not much because you have picked the most popular page on the site and several related terms match the defaults. Try it with other pages and you will see more differences. NOTE ON RELATED TERMS. ---------------------- Sometimes using wordtracker finds less than three related terms. Perhaps because the title is too long e.g. 'Tournament Soccer Foosball Tables' page. Rather than settling for the default terms like 'Table Football' you can try looking at the blueprint section for the title, i.e. Tournament Soccer Foosball Tables 18 Foosball Tournament 11 LINKTO Tournament Soccer Foosball 6 DUP Tournament Foosball Tables 4 DUP So Foosball Tournament Tournament Soccer Foosball Tournament Foosball Tables May be better to use for the related terms than the defaults 'Table Football' etc. People may be more likely to click for terms close to topic. Another tactic is to try wordtracker with other shorter combinations like 'Tournament Foosball' gives this:- foosball tournament 11 12 tournament soccer foosball 6 6 tournament foosball tables In this case it gives the same three suggestions as the blueprint (but may not always).
